Wie die meisten populären Marken hat auch Tesla neben zahlreichen Fans viele Kritiker. Letztere drücken ihre Abneigung zunehmend öffentlich und zum Teil aggressiv aus. Nach Meldungen, dass die Supercharger-Schnellladestationen des Elektroautobauers immer häufiger bewusst blockiert werden, gibt es nun neue Berichte über Sabotage.
Im US-Bundesstaat Utah wurden laut Twitter-Nutzer und Tesla-Fahrer Mark Larsen in diesem Jahr Supercharger-Säulen mutwillig beschädigt. Offenbar wurde versucht, das Ladekabel durchzutrennen. Da dies nicht gelang, machten sich der oder die Täter mit einem Bohrer an den Ladesteckern zu schaffen. Das Resultat waren mehrere nicht mehr einsatzbereite Ladepunkte.

Die Beschädigung von Tesla-Superchargern bedeutet nicht nur Frust für die Kunden der Kalifornier und zusätzliche Kosten für das Unternehmen selbst, sondern allem voran ein Sicherheitsrisiko. Leistungsstarke Elektroauto-Lader können bei Defekten lebensgefährliche Stromschläge verursachen. Wie heikel die Technik ist, zeigt die Stilllegung mehrerer Schnelllader anderer Betreiber in Europa und den USA aufgrund eines möglichen fehlerhaften Kabels.
Tesla weiß über den jüngsten Vandalismus-Vorfall in den USA Bescheid und hat bereits Reparaturen durchgeführt. Bei der abschließenden Klärung des Sachverhalts dürfte helfen, dass viele Supercharger sich in der Nähe von Geschäften befinden und videoüberwacht sind. Sollten sich Aktionen wie die in Utah häufen, muss das Sicherheitskonzept für Supercharger-Standorte möglicherweise überarbeitet bzw. ausgeweitet werden.
Bei der Nachverfolgung von Beschädigungen der Elektroautos von Tesla durch andere Verkehrsteilnehmer oder Feinde der Marke soll in Zukunft die neue Funktion “Tesla Sentry” helfen. Die für das Autonome Fahren verbauten Kameras der Stromer werden dazu als “Wachdienst” genutzt, indem sie sich bei Bedarf automatisch einschalten und die Umgebung des Fahrzeugs filmen. Möglicherweise hilft dies später auch dabei, den ein oder anderen Supercharger-Vandalen zu identifizieren.
