Tesla hat Anfang des Jahres die Einstiegsversionen seiner großen Elektroautos Model S und Model X aus dem Programm genommen, nun gibt es neue Basisvarianten. Auch die Nomenklatur wird überarbeitet sowie das mit dem Model 3 eingeführte neue Design des Online-Konfigurators für alle Fahrzeuge übernommen. Und es gibt weitere Neuerungen.
Wie bereits vor einigen Jahren setzt Tesla bei Model S und X jetzt auf eine via Software gedrosselte Batterie-Kapazität. Statt wie bis vor kurzem mit 75-kWh-Energiespeicher rollen auch die neuen Einstiegsversionen mit großer 100-kWh-Batterie vom Band. Wer ein Model S oder Model X mit maximaler Reichweite erwerben will, bestellt dazu eine aufpreispflichtige Option. Tesla verkauft zudem künftig die Funktion “Ludicrous” für maximale Leistung entkoppelt vom Sportpaket.
Neben einer größeren Auswahl umfassen die Änderungen bei Teslas Oberklasse-Stromern eine neue Typenkennzeichnung: Ähnlich wie beim kleineren Model 3 wird auf die Angabe der Batteriekapazität mit zusätzlichem Kürzel für die Allrad- und Sportausstattung verzichtet. Die erschwinglichsten Versionen mit digital begrenzter Reichweite heißen nun schlicht “Model S” und “Model X”. Mit maximaler Reichweite ausgestattet wird daraus Model S bzw. Model X “mit erweiterter Reichweite”.
US-Kunden verspricht Tesla für einen Aufpreis von umgerechnet etwa 7000 Euro vor Steuern acht Prozent mehr Reichweite. Die technischen Daten dieser Option entsprechen denen der bisherigen 100-kWh-Modelle, der Preis wurde in den USA jedoch um jeweils 1000 Dollar gesenkt. Auch die Sportausstattung “Performance” wird günstiger, da die Leistungssteigerung “Ludicrous” jetzt ein eigenständiges, 20.000 Dollar teures Update darstellt.
Wer nachträglich mehr Reichweite oder Leistung will, kann dies wie früher durch eine Software-Aktualisierung über das Netz realisieren. Die Kosten hierfür sind noch nicht bekannt. In den deutschsprachigen Online-Konfigurator haben es die jüngsten Änderungen noch nicht geschafft, Tesla passt sein Angebot allerdings meist in kurzer Zeit weltweit an. Das Model S und Model X dürften daher auch hierzulande bald in den folgenden Varianten zu haben sein:
