Tesla owners Supercharge across Canada in epic coast-to-coast nonstop road trip


A Tesla Model 3 Performance driven by the Ian Pavelko and Trevor Page completed the first-ever Canada coast-to-coast nonstop electric vehicle road trip. The amazing trip, chronicled in a stunning timelapse video, covered 6,131 km. (3,810 miles) during a period of roughly 73.5 hours.

The duo who demonstrated the capability of electric vehicles, particularly the Model 3, and the existing charging networks that support them. The two Tesla owners started their record-setting journey on March 4 and set off from Tsawwassen, British Columbia and ended in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 7.

The road trip involved 40 Supercharger stops and made most of the newly opened Trans-Canada Tesla Supercharger route. Of course, there were coffee breaks, a ton of fast food, and a good dose of good music along the way, according to Pavelko and Page. The drivers took turns driving so the other can rest on the passenger seat.

“Honestly, this has been one of the most enjoyable and exciting drives I’ve ever done,” Pavelko said on a press release posted on the Tesla Owners Online.

The duo revealed that there were a few setbacks during the journey but they were able to handle them, thanks to the incredible support from locals across Canada and via online channels through their three-day road trip.

“We made a few mistakes along the way. We overcharged at one point and we didn’t plan for certain distances, and of course, weather is always an issue and was for us heading into Halifax, but we’re still really pleased with the 73-hour drive time it took,” said Page.​

The tour dubbed as the “Fast EV Lightning Run” was sponsored by Fast EV, a division of Fast Wheels, that equipped the Model 3 with Fast EV01+ wheels specifically designed to maintain the efficiency of electric vehicles.. The trip made most of the chargers along that Trans-Canada Highway, a major transportation artery that traverses the 10 provinces of Canada.

With the success of the first Fast EV Lightning Run, Pavelko and Page look forward to annual drives across Canada with other electric vehicle owners.

“We hope other EV owners will see just how enjoyable this drive can be. Canada is such a beautiful country and we got to see it in all its glory,” Pavelko said.

Elon Musk on humans in Mars before he dies, urges faster pace of progress


Elon Musk has a major goal: to get humanity to Mars before he dies. A lofty goal that he reiterated before a crowd on Monday at the Satellite 2020 conference in Washington D.C.

“If we don’t improve our pace of progress, I’m definitely going to be dead before we go to Mars,” Musk said to the journalists and industry leaders in attendance.

SpaceX, founded by Musk in 2002, nabbed the first of many lucrative deals for the burgeoning rocket company in 2008 when the company was named one of two corporations that would ferry cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). (Orbital Sciences, now Northrop Grumman is the other.) 

To date, SpaceX has flown 20 cargo resupply missions to the space station, and very soon will send an upgraded version of the Dragon to ferry astronauts to the orbital outpost as well. But this is just the beginning for Musk and SpaceX.

Musk has his sights set on the moon and Mars. But he’s worried that our current technology isn’t progressing as quickly as it should in order to make Mars happen. That’s evident if you look at the commercial crew program.

In 2011, NASA’s storied fleet of space shuttles retired, and space agencies around the world were forced to rely solely on the Russian Soyuz to transport astronauts to and from space. That agreement would only be temporary as NASA tapped SpaceX and Boeing with the task of building its next-generation astronaut taxis.

Innovation takes time, and after years of delays due to various reasons, SpaceX is on the cusp of launching its first set of astronauts.  Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will board the Crew Dragon spacecraft and fly to the ISS as early as this May. NASA is still trying to iron out the details (like how long they will stay) as SpaceX completes the last two parachute tests prior to launch.

Simultaneously, Musk and SpaceX are working on a massive rocket that will ferry people and cargo to Mars. Called Starship, the heavy-lifter is approximately 400-feet of stainless steel that could transport the first people to the red planet. That is if all goes as planned.

Eagle-eyed onlookers first spotted the towering silver craft in Jan. 2019 at SpaceX’s work site in Boca Chica, TX. That initial prototype was the first step towards reaching Mars and Musk’s goal of building a city on Mars with up to one million people in it, preferably sometime within the next 50 years.

To do so, SpaceX will need a fleet of massive, silvery spaceships. The company is on its third test article, but Musk hopes to ramp up production to one Starship a week by year’s end.

“Unless we improve our rate of innovation dramatically, then there is no chance of a base on the moon or Mars,” Musk said during the conference. “This is my biggest concern.”

 

Starship will launch atop a Super Heavy launcher. In true SpaceX fashion, both vehicles will be reusable, which lowers the cost significantly. Musk has said that eventually, each Starship mission could cost a mere $2 million.

Starship could launch as early as this year, especially if production rates ramp up the level that Musk hopes. So far, the craft is already booked for one trip around the moon sometime in 2023. That Starship will carry Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa.

Musk also squashed the notion that his Starlink internet service would go public. According to Musk, that endeavor could net his company as much as $30 billion, if it doesn’t go bankrupt. “Guess how many LEO constellations didn’t go bankrupt? Zero,” he said. “We just want to be in the non-bankrupt category.”

So for now, Musk says SpaceX is focused on getting the project off the ground and not spinning it into a publicly-traded company. SpaceX officials have said that the service could roll out later this year in a limited capacity until more satellites come online. To date, the company has launched 300 Starlink satellites, with another batch of 60 set to launch on Saturday (Mar. 14).

Tesla Model 3 vs BMW i4: How hubris is killing a potential ‘Tesla Killer’


Recently, BMW took the wraps off yet another one of its concept electric vehicles, the i4 sedan. The BMW i4 is poised to rival the Tesla Model 3, an electric car that is so disruptive, it is shaking up the midsize high-performance sedan market. Unfortunately for the German carmaker, one has to wonder if BMW’s efforts with the i4 are simply far too late. 

Behind the possible clash between the Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4 is a history that spans years, all the way back to 2013, when Tesla was just starting the production of its flagship Model S and the German automaker was coming up with the i3. But despite the two vehicles being all-electric cars, they could not be any more different

Tesla designed the Model S as a sedan that can take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and it has the looks, range, and performance to match. BMW, on the other hand, designed the i3 like a novelty vehicle, with a carbon fiber body, limited range, and performance that’s at home in inner-city streets. This distinction between the Model S and i3 foreshadowed the future of the two companies’ electric vehicle programs, as Tesla would follow up on the Model S with the Model X and Model 3, and BMW would end up being stuck with the i3 until today.

Yet despite having just one key pure electric car in its lineup, BMW has put a lot of effort in convincing the auto industry that it is taking electric vehicles seriously. Concept after concept was unveiled to much fanfare, but so far, none of the company’s fancy vehicles like the iNext have a legitimate release date. While this was happening, Tesla was growing, refining its processes, and making its vehicles like the Model 3 even better. 

The Model 3 may not be the quickest vehicle in Tesla’s lineup, but it is the most disruptive. Priced aggressively and designed to take on the most established premium midsized sedans like the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Model 3 was poised to make waves, and make waves it did. The Model 3 Performance, the most powerful of the lineup, even managed to beat the legendary BMW M3 on the track, hands down. The idea of an electric sedan outperforming the M3 on the track would have probably warranted mockery had it been suggested during the days of the Model S and i3, but it is a painful truth that the German automaker has to swallow now. 

It was not long before it was evident that the i3 won’t be enough to take on vehicles like the Model S or Model 3. Yet, BMW seemed to still take its sweet time developing its electric cars, with some executives even adopting the narrative that there is not enough demand for pure EVs anyway. It is then unsurprising that today, Tesla’s lead in electric mobility has become so stark, it is almost embarrassing for some legacy automakers like BMW.

When BMW announced the unveiling of its i4 concept on Twitter, the electric vehicle community immediately poked fun at the automaker for showing off yet another concept car. The car had impressive specs, though, with BMW stating that the i4’s single motor will generate about 530 hp, about on par with one of the automaker’s V8 engines. The i4 is pretty quick too, with a 0-62 mph time of about 4 seconds. Range-wise, estimates point to the i4 having about 270 miles in between charges. 

While these specs are decent and a notable improvement over the i3, the i4 does show several signs suggesting that BMW is still not going all-in on electric cars. A look at the vehicle’s exterior alone shows that the i4 is still designed like a conventional car, with a long sloping hood that lacks any sort of frunk due to the space being allotted for electronics. Overall, the i4 boasts an attractive design that would likely end up being a template for the next-generation BMW 3-Series, but a ground-up EV it does not seem to be. 

And here lies the issue with BMW so far. It appears that even after years of the i3 never really taking off, the company is still under the impression that it can ride the EV wave with a car that is just adequate in features and performance. Considering BMW’s long history as an automaker, such appears to be a big sign of hubris. And at this point in the EV race, that could be very costly.

BMW is one of three prolific auto houses in Germany, and so far, it is the one that seems to be lagging behind the most when it comes to electric vehicles. Daimler may be seeing challenges with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, but the company has some fallback in the company’s electric trucks like the Freightliner eCascadia, which only has a few rivals like the Tesla Semi.

Volkswagen has adopted a very aggressive strategy with its EV push. So serious is VW with its electric cars that the company’s CEO, Herbert Diess, is pretty much putting his career on the line to ensure that the automaker can roll out a mass-produced vehicle like the ID.3, a car that has the potential to be this generation’s Beetle. And then there’s BMW, still with its concepts, and a Model 3 competitor that is still over a year away at the best case scenario. 

The term “Tesla Killer” has become ubiquitous with the number of electric cars that are being developed by legacy automakers. Yet over the years, each and every one of these alleged killers, from the Chevy Bolt to the Jaguar I-PACE, have proven to be incapable of outgunning Tesla’s electric cars in their own game. For the i4 to be a legitimate rival to the Model 3, it must beat Tesla with not just its badge’s pedigree. Otherwise, BMW may end up killing its “Tesla Killer” even before it had a chance to compete, thanks to an EV effort that is uninspired at best.

SpaceX’s next Starlink launch to mark biggest rocket reusability milestone yet [webcast]


If everything goes as planned, SpaceX’s next 60-satellite Starlink launch will soon push the Falcon rocket family to the halfway point of its ambitious reusability design goals.

SpaceX has scheduled its sixth launch of 60 Starlink satellites no earlier than (NET) 9:42 am EDT (13:42 UTC) March 14th. Known as Starlink L6 or Starlink V1 L5 (referring to the fifth batch of upgraded v1.0 satellites), the Starlink mission will be the SpaceX’s fourth this year – a cadence that would enable up to 21 Starlink launches in 2020 alone. In other words, a successful launch this weekend would put SpaceX firmly on track to realize the repeated guidance that it would attempt 20-24 Starlink missions this year.

Given that SpaceX’s annual record stands at 21 launches and that the company has many additional non-Starlink launches planned for 2020, it’s always been clear that rocket reusability would be essential to even begin to approach the launch rates Starlink demands. Doing so without severely impacting customer missions – almost certainly an unacceptable tradeoff for SpaceX – is even more of a challenge. Thankfully, with its very next launch, SpaceX is about to push the rocket reusability envelope yet again, hopefully proving that the Falcon family is halfway to realizing its design goals.

SpaceX’s final iteration of the Falcon launch vehicle – known as its Block 5 upgrade – flew for the first time in May 2018 and has performed another 27 missions in 22 months since. When it debuted, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk spoke in depth about the Block 5 upgrade and the significant changes it introduced, stating that it primarily focused on improving reliability and reusability. Notably, every single Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket produced from then on would be virtually identical to the select few boosters destined to launch astronauts, meaning that all future SpaceX launches would directly benefit from the changes NASA required.

However, arguably the biggest public focus of Block 5 upgrade would be the upgrades it brought for SpaceX’s reusable rocketry program, with Musk describing it as a cumulative product of half a decade spent attempting to land rocket boosters. The big claim: Falcon Block 5 boosters would theoretically be capable of at least ten launches apiece with minimal to no repairs in between. After reaching 10-launch milestones, Musk further noted that boosters could potentially use periodical overhauls – much like modern aircraft – to achieve 100 or more launches apiece before retirement.

Eleven months after SpaceX launched and landed the same rocket for the third time, Falcon 9 booster B1048 became the first to complete four launches and landings, placing the first 60 Starlink v1.0 satellites in orbit in November 2019. Less than two months later, Falcon 9 B1049 matched its predecessor’s record, becoming the second booster to launch four times.

Now, according to Next Spaceflight, pathfinder Falcon 9 booster B1048 is scheduled to launch for the fifth time in support of Starlink L6 – a bit less than four months after it became the first SpaceX rocket to cross the fourth-flight milestone. Just days ago, SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell revealed that Falcon boosters might never need to fly more than ten times. Given that Falcon 9 Block 5 boosters were first and foremost designed to launch no less than ten times each, B1048 is now on the brink of reaching the halfway point of one SpaceX’s most ambitious Block 5 design goals.

If B1048 (and B1049 shortly after that) can prove that Falcon boosters can successfully launch five times, it’s hard to imagine any technical showstoppers that could prevent SpaceX from achieving its self-imposed ten-flight milestone. With SpaceX likely to attempt anywhere from 10-20 more Starlink launches this year, there will be no shortage of opportunities for Falcon 9 to continue pushing the envelope of reusability.

Tesla Model Y side-by-side with Mercedes SUV highlights crossover’s impressive cabin size


A recent Tesla Model Y sighting has provided what could very well be the vehicle’s best size comparison yet, with the all-electric crossover being parked beside a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. The Model Y in question was spotted in Tesla’s Fremont factory, where the first builds of the vehicle are being manufactured ahead of its initial deliveries that are now scheduled to take place on Friday, March 13.

The video was made by YouTuber TESLANA, who noticed a Midnight Silver Metallic Model Y in a parking lot next to a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC SUV. The two vehicles sitting next to each other gave a great size comparison for the Model Y as it was next to one of the more spacious midsize SUVs available on the market.

The two vehicles are very similar in size dimensions, but the shape of the cars is where the real difference is. The Model Y sits at 187 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 64 inches tall. In contrast, the 2019 GLC 300’s dimensions depend on the trim but can vary from 183-187 inches long, 74-76 inches wide, and 62-65 inches tall.

A look around the two vehicles show that the while the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 has a bit more ground clearance than the Model Y, the all-electric crossover seems to have a much larger cabin. This is evident in TESLANA’s video, which showed that the Model Y’s cabin extends further into its hood compared to the GLC 300. Such a design should provide a more spacious cabin for passengers.

First impressions of the Model Y’s size compared to other Tesla vehicles were captured by Jason Yu, who posted side-by-side photos of himself for enthusiasts to gain an idea of how the new car compares to the company’s other electric vehicles.

The Model Y has solidified itself as one of the most popular electric vehicles Tesla has ever released simply because of its mass appeal, with Musk expecting the vehicle to surpass the popularity of the Model 3, X, and S combined. The crossover market has been booming, and the Model Y offers multiple affordable and spacious options for mainstream consumers.

Tesla will begin delivering the Model Y to customers on Friday, March 13. Two variants, a Long-Range configuration capable of 315 miles per charge and the Performance trim, are currently available for purchase. The Fremont factory is responsible for building all Model Ys at the current time, though CEO Elon Musk announced the company would be scoping out locations for a new Gigafactory in the Central United States that would be responsible for producing the Cybertruck and Model Y for East Coast customers.

Australia is home to one of Tesla’s largest grid-connected energy storage systems in the world. The Hornsdale Power Reserve is located in South Australia and holds a storage capacity of 129 MWh of power from wind and solar energy. The site is powered recognized as the “largest lithium-ion battery in the world,” and since its activation, it has already saved South Australia from three major blackouts.

Tesla overtakes Boeing to become US’ largest industrial company by value


It took Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) one year to close a ~$200 billion gap in market value compared to Boeing (NYSE: BA), with the electric car maker briefly surpassing the aerospace giant on Wednesday after the latter met more issues with its beleaguered 737 Max jetliner.

The most significant single-day drop for Boeing in nearly 40 years dropped the company’s market capitalization to $106.5 billion, making it more than $10 billion less than Tesla’s value on Wednesday. Boeing’s drop is reportedly due to the recent coronavirus scare that has slowed air travel across the globe, along with the grounding of its 737 Max jetliner, the company’s top-selling jumbo jet, according to Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, in Silicon Valley, Tesla continues to push through the tough times that the COVID-19 virus is causing for companies everywhere. The electric car maker’s stock is seeing a lot of wild swings as of late as well, but in a way, Boeing’s drop on Wednesday is almost poetic, considering that Elon Musk has his own aerospace company, SpaceX. Both Boeing and SpaceX are currently working towards manned missions, but between the two, the Elon Musk-led firm seems to be in the lead.

While Tesla has enjoyed a sharp increase in share price over the past six months,, the company has shown that it is also susceptible to global crises as it is also affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the recent dips, however, TSLA stock is still up 52% in 2020. Tesla is currently the second most valuable automaker in the world, trailing only Toyota for the top spot.

In comparison, Boeing is taking a massive hit because of a wide range of problems that include blows to its reputation that were heralded by its best-selling 737 Max aircraft. CNBC reported that Boeing received more cancellation requests than orders for the 737 Max jetliner, which has caused two fatal crashes and has not flown in nearly a year.

Wednesday, March 11, heralded what could be the most significant blow to Boeing yet, after Air Canada reduced an order for the 737 Max by 11 jets. Now, Boeing’s to-do list for the plane to be considered safe is getting longer, as The New York Times stated that regulators raised concerns about wire bundling in the plane, which could potentially cause short-circuits.

Boeing received a nearly $14 billion loan from a group of banks in February 2020, and the company announced today that it would draw down on the full amount as early as Friday.

How Tesla’s Big Battery saved South Australia from 3 major blackouts


The Tesla-powered Hornsdale Power Reserve (HPR) in South Australia has saved businesses and local residents from three wide-scale blackouts, proving how big batteries can play a key role in maintaining a region’s power grid.

The Hornsdale Power Reserve, owned by French renewable energy producer Neoen, uses Tesla’s utility-scale Powerpack system. Based on an impact study from consulting firm Aurecon, it appears that the big battery has saved consumers AUD 116 million or roughly $76 million in 2019. The same report detailed how the HPR responded to three separate major events since it went online in 2018. The said events occurred in August 2018, November 2019, and January 2020.

“On each occasion, HPR responded by closely tracking the changing frequency and accurately changing its power dispatch as required,” the Hornsdale Power Reserve Year 2 Technical and Market Impact Case Study read.

The Hornsdale Power Reserve provides Fast Frequency Response using its fast dispatch capability to ensure power is supplied quickly, avoiding major power outages.

During the August 2018 event, the grids in South Australia and Queensland were cut off from the main grid following lighting strikes that resulted in major blackouts in New South Wales and Victoria. NSW shed 724MW of load while Victoria shed 280MW. Victoria and South Australia did not go in the dark. Tesla’s big battery was quickest to respond during the said event and has proven itself as a critical asset where power security is needed.

“The large-scale battery storage in SA was valuable in this event, assisting in containing the initial decline in system frequency, and then rapidly changing output from generation back to load, to limit the over-frequency condition in SA following separation from VIC,” the  Australian Energy Market Operator report about the Aug. 2018 event reads.

On November 16, 2019, another event caused the islanding of the grid in South Australia. In the early evening on the said date, the Heywood interconnector, the main link between South Australia and Victoria, tripped. Despite this, the lights in SA did not go dark, thanks to solar, wind, and big batteries. The Tesla Big Battery responded as required and helped return the supply to in a matter of minutes after the islanding event. As it maintained the supply in normal range, other energy producers that charge higher during such events were not able to perform as well.

On January 31, 2020, South Australia was once again separated from the National Electric Market due to a storm that broke a massive transmission line. The cut transmission lines actually meant there was an oversupply in SA and just like in undersupply events, the Hornsdale Power Reserve, together with South Australia’s other big batteries and windfarms, promptly responded to correct the fluttering frequency. SA effectively operated like an “island” until power was resynchronized on February 17.

The three events in South Australia highlight the vital role of how Tesla big battery-supplied Hornsdale Power Reserve can help maintain grid security and ensure that lights are kept on even when the state is “islanded.” These are only the beginning too, especially since Neoen has announced that it will be expanding its Tesla Powerpack Farm by 50%.

Tesla tops Fast Co’s list for Most Innovative Transportation company


Tesla ranked third overall in the list of The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. Tesla also topped the list of the Most Innovative Transportation Companies of 2020 by the same publication.

The Silicon Valley-based carmaker finished just behind social media platform Snap and tech-giant Microsoft, which finished first and second, respectively. In the transportation sector, Tesla grabbed the top spot while Brightline/Virgin Trains, the first new privately-held passenger rail system in the United States in 100 years, finished second. Software company Swiftly, which helps cities optimize public transit systems using data analysis snagged the third spot.

Fast Company cited Tesla “for proving it’s a mass-market automaker by delivering more than 350,000 cars in 2019. Tesla proved it can compete with Big Auto when it delivered 367,500 vehicles to customers last year—more than double the number of cars it sold in the previous two years. It also opened a new factory in China, and began delivering cars to the world’s largest EV market.”

Aptiv came in fourth and was cited for completing more than 70,000 paid autonomous car rides with Lyft. Electric vehicle charging company Chargepoint got the fifth spot. Kodiak Robotics, Passport, Shipex, Cake, and LM Industries completed the top 10 in the transport sector

The publication highlights the achievements and promising ideas of the biggest and lesser-known industry players, but more importantly, puts the spotlight on how Elon Musk’s car company has been reshaping itself as an industry leader and how it continues to transform the the car industry as a whole.

Scaling up production of its vehicles, focused at the moment on the Model 3 electric sedan and now the Model Y electric crossover is an integral step to achieving Tesla’s mission of fostering a wider adoption of electric vehicles. For 2020, Tesla is aiming to deliver 500,000 vehicles.

While these numbers may sound ambitious to the company’s naysayers, it is a realistic goal with the carmaker eyeing production of 500K units per year in its Fremont factory once upgrades are completed mid-year. Giga Shanghai, according to a recent record of meetings between investors and experts, is expected to hit 170,000 vehicles this year, with an aim to produce 5,000 vehicles per week putting the facility all the way up to to almost 250,000 units annually.

Aside from its connected cars, it also continues to invest in improving its car battery technologies. Industry leaders and major players are awaiting what Tesla and Elon Musk would announce during its Battery Day in April. It could be about mass production of cheaper batteries or perhaps enhanced batteries for its existing and future vehicles, and while these could spell doomsday for other legacy automakers it opens the possibility of Tesla helping everyone as a supplier of reliable electric vehicle batteries in the future. If that happens, it would be a win-win situation for carmakers and the environment as this would make green cars from different brands more attractive to consumers. Tesla’s innovation is effectively innovation for the car industry as a whole.

Ramping production has indeed turned Tesla into a mass vehicle producer, but more importantly, it brings it a step closer to helping the world achieve a more sustainable future through its products.

“When I think what we have in front of us, the next couple of years, we’ve got Model Y, we’ve got Giga Berlin, Tesla Semi, Solarglass Roof, Cybertruck some very exciting improvements in battery technology,” Elon Musk said during its Q4 2019 earnings call. “It’s hard to think of another company that has more exciting product and technology roadmap. So super-fired up about where Tesla will be in the next 10 years.”

Tesla Model Y customers confirm delivery dates for this Friday, March 13


Tesla Model Y first deliveries will take place as early as this Friday, March 13 or two days earlier than the originally anticipated Sunday delivery date.

Model Y buyers in Washington State, Fremont and San Diego, California have confirmed a March 13 delivery date, according to data from a crowdsourced Google Sheet that collates Model Y order details and sources. Another customer in Oregon has confirmed their Model Y delivery on Saturday, March 14.

Customers from several Model Y Facebook Groups have also confirmed the early delivery date. “Just scheduled my delivery for 10am this Friday! It’s happening. And earlier than 15th,” one Model Y buyer wrote.

In addition to West Coast deliveries, reservation holders as far as Canada have also received confirmation for upcoming Model Y deliveries.

This week hundreds of Model Y units were seen waiting for delivery on the parking lot of Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California.

Likewise, delivery trucks loaded with different colors of Model Y were spotted cruising on the highway. Most of the units were Performance variants as denoted by the Überturbine wheels and red brake calipers.

Leading up to this Friday’s Model Y delivery date, fans and enthusiasts have also discovered Model Y images in the latest version of Tesla’s Android mobile app, a sign that the carmaker had been gearing up for the first deliveries of its electric crossover. Model Y VINs were also released last week to the first batch of buyers in California, New York, Florida, Georgia, and other states.
