Wie die Nordwest Zeitung in ihrer Onlineausgabe berichtet, konnte die Intax Innovative Fahrzeuglösungen GmbH nach langer Vorlaufzeit die Taxi-Serienproduktion des Tesla Model S nach Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, holen. Das Unternehmen ist seit 2000 im Industriegebiet Tweelbäke ansässig und rüstet dort für die Automobilindustrie Sonderfahrzeuge wie Taxis, Fahrschul-, Polizei-, Feuerwehr- und Militärfahrzeuge um.

Geschäftsführer Jörg Hatscher sagte gegenüber der Zeitung: „Mit Tesla, einem der E-Auto-Pioniere, befindet sich nun ein Fahrzeug im Angebot, das mit einer maximalen Reichweite von bis zu 594 Kilometern über einen taxitauglichen Aktionsradius verfügt.“

Auf der Herstellerseite wird das Angebot wie folgt beschrieben:

Wir fertigen vollständig rückrüstbare Taxis als verlängerte Werkbank für die unten aufgeführten Hersteller in Serie.
Sämtliche in der Serienfertigung durchgeführten Veränderungen an den Fahrzeugen sind nach dem INTAX-Rückrüst-System RSY® vollständig rückrüstbar.

Die Fahrzeuge dieser Hersteller werden über die jeweiligen Händler ausgeliefert, verfügen über die volle Werksgarantie sowie über alle erforderlichen Angaben zum Konformitäts-Bewertungsverfahren und sind somit eichrechtlich zulassungsfähig. Wir rüsten ausschließlich Serien-Neufahrzeuge individuell nach Kundenwunsch mit sämtlichen Taximerkmalen wie z. B. Taxametern, Dachzeichen, Funkgeräten und Antennen aus.

Ein solches Taxi-Paket kostet beim Tesla Model S 2.790 Euro. Intax veröffentlichte auch einige Bilder, die ein umgerüstetes Model S zeigen:
