Wir hatten bereits Ende letzten Jahres darüber berichtet, dass Anfang 2018 ein großes Update für das Navigationssystem der Tesla-Fahrzeuge veröffentlicht werden soll. Unter anderem soll dieses Update mittels Vektorkarten eine deutlich detaillierte Kartendarstellung erlauben. Elon Musk kündigte sogar an, dass die neue Navigation „um Lichtjahre voraus“ sei.

Nun ist das erste Quartal dieses Jahres schon fast zu Ende, doch gab es bisher noch kein Update für das Navigationssystem. Deswegen wollte ein Twitter-Nutzer Musk daran erinnern, dass zahlreiche Kunden mit großer Vorfreude darauf warten.

New nav starts rolling out this weekend. Should be considered a mature beta at first, so won’t be perfect, but will improve rapidly. With the old system, we were stuck with legacy 3rd party black box code and stale data. No way to improve.

Musk antwortete dem Nutzer und gab damit bekannt, dass man zum Wochenende mit dem Update rechnen kann. Der CEO erklärte, dass es noch als „reife“ Beta-Version angesehen werden soll, somit nicht perfekt sei, aber zügig verbessert werden könne.

Zwar ist Musk dafür bekannt, mit seinen Zeitangaben etwas daneben zu liegen. Dieses Mal handelt es sich jedoch um ein nicht all zu weit entferntes Datum, weshalb man davon ausgehen kann, dass das Update so gut wie fertig gestellt ist.
