Teslas Autopilot-Chef Jim Keller hat das Unternehmen verlassen

Teslas Autopilot-Chef Jim Keller hat das Unternehmen verlassen. Das bestätigte das Unternehmen heute auf Anfrage von Electrek. Demnach sei der Dienstag der letzte Arbeitstag von Keller bei Tesla gewesen. Er wechselt zu einem nicht näher genanntem Unternehmen, in der Branche der Halbleitertechnik. Gerüchten zufolge soll es Intel sein.

Tesla kommentierte den Abgang wie folgt:

Heute ist Jim Kellers letzter Tag bei Tesla, wo er Niederspannungs-Hardware, Autopilot-Software und Infotainment überwacht hat. Bevor er zu Tesla kam, war Jims Leidenschaft die Mikroprozessortechnik und er tritt nun in ein Unternehmen ein, in dem er sich wieder ausschließlich darauf konzentrieren kann. Wir schätzen seine Beiträge für Tesla und wünschen ihm alles Gute.

Keller trat Tesla vor zwei Jahren als Vice President of Autopilot Hardware Engineering bei. Zuvor war er CPU-Chefentwickler bei AMD. Zwischen 2008 und 2012 arbeitete Keller bei Apple und entwickelte dort den A4- und A5-Chip. Erst kürzlich bestätigte Elon Musk, dass auch Tesla an einem eigenen Computerchip arbeite, wofür Keller verantwortlich sei.

Tesla sagte, dass Pete Bannon, der seit mehr als zwei Jahren im Unternehmen tätig ist, nun die Autopilot-Hardware leiten wird. Andrej Karpathy, Teslas Direktor of AI and Autopilot Vision, wird die Verantwortung für die Autopilot-Software übernehmen.
