Im kommenden Monat wird erwartet, dass Tesla die Firmware-Version 9 veröffentlicht. Die aktuelle Version 8 ist seit September 2016 in den Tesla-Fahrzeugen eingespielt und damit fast exakt vor zwei Jahren veröffentlicht worden. Nun gab Musk auf Twitter aber bereits einen ersten Hinweis darauf, was uns in der übernächsten Version erwartet.
Ein Twitter-Nutzer fragte den CEO, ob man zukünftig plane, Streaming-Dienste wie Netflix oder YouTube auch im Fahrzeug zu implementieren, sodass man diese über den zentralen Bildschirm nutzen kann, wenn man beispielsweise das Auto gerade lädt. Musk antwortete auf diese Frage in gewohnter Knappheit mit „Version 10“.

Sollte Tesla für die Firmware-Version 10 einen ähnlichen Zeitplan wie von Version 8 auf die kommende Version 9 einkalkuliert haben, so kann auch hierfür weitere zwei Jahre veranschlagen. Diese wäre dann möglicherweise zeitgleich mit der Einführung des Tesla Roadster im Jahr 2020 marktreif.
Streaming-Dienste könnten mit zunehmender Selbstständigkeit der Fahrzeuge, Stichwort autonomes Fahren, größere Relevanz erhalten. Wenn die Insassen sich kaum oder gar nicht mehr auf die Fahrt konzentrieren müssen, werden es zwangsläufig alternative Beschäftigungen benötigt.
