Vor Model-3-Start in Europa: Tesla baut niederländischen Standort in Tilburg aus

Von den über 400.000 Reservierungen für das Model 3 dürften zahlreiche aus Europa stammen, hierzulande ist der 2017 in den USA gestartete Mittelklasse-Tesla allerdings erst ab nächstem Jahr zu haben. Im Vorfeld der nahenden Markteinführung bereitet der US-Hersteller seinen europäischen Standort im niederländischen Tilburg auf den neuen Stromer vor.

Seine Elektroautos und die dazugehörige Technik baut Tesla in Nordamerika, in Tilburg finden lediglich die Endmontage und Qualitätstests von in Europa ausgelieferten Fahrzeugen statt. Die Produktionsstätte wurde kürzlich erweitert, berichten niederländische Tesla-Fans auf Twitter.

Bisher verließen die Tilburger Hallen Teslas große Limousine Model S und das SUV Model X. Für das auf den internationalen Massenmarkt abzielende Model 3 reichen die Räumlichkeiten offenbar nicht mehr. Noch offen ist, welchem Zweck das neue Gebäude in der Nähe der bestehenden niederländischen Einrichtungen dient. Das Unternehmen spricht derzeit offiziell von einem “größeren Warenlager”.

Neben dem Stauraum für Fahrzeuge und Komponenten sowie der Modifikation und finalen Abnahme importierter Elektroautos muss Tesla demnächst auch die Kapazitäten für die Auslieferung des Model 3 ausbauen. In den USA sorgte der nach anfänglicher Probleme deutlich anziehende Hochlauf der Fertigung bereits für Verzögerungen bei der Übergabe neuer Fahrzeuge. In Europa sollen unter anderem spezielle Auslieferzentren Abhilfe schaffen, Konkretes gibt es hierzu aber noch nicht.

Ebenfalls noch offen ist, wo die von Firmenchef Elon Musk angekündigte erste europäische Tesla-“Gigafactory” gebaut wird. Deutschland stehe “ganz oben auf der Liste”, hieß es im Juli, aber auch die Niederlande seien als möglicher Standort im Gespräch.
