Panasonic: Batteriegeschäft mit Tesla fährt ersten Gewinn seit drei Quartalen ein

Panasonic hat nach einem Ergebnisrückgang im Weihnachtsgeschäft seine Prognose für das im März endende Geschäftsjahr 2018/19 gesenkt. Auch die Investitionen im Rahmen der Partnerschaft mit Tesla bei Batterien belasten das Geschäft des japanischen Elektronikkonzerns, sorgten zuletzt aber wieder für Gewinn.

Im dritten Quartal sei das Betriebsergebnis wegen einer schwächeren Nachfrage nach Haushaltsgeräten sowie Ausrüstung für Fabriken in Folge des US-chinesischen Handelsstreits um fast ein Fünftel auf umgerechnet 775 Millionen Euro gefallen, teilte Panasonic mit. Die Aktie büßte daraufhin an der Frankfurter Börse zeitweise über vier Prozent ein. Binnen Jahresfrist hat der Titel bereits mehr als 30 Prozent an Wert verloren.

Mit Blick auf die Kooperation mit Tesla konnte Panasonic Positives verkünden: Das zusammen mit dem Elektroautobauer betriebene Batteriegeschäft verzeichnete mit 131 Millionen Euro den ersten Betriebsgewinn seit drei Quartalen. “Umsatz und Profit mit dem Tesla-Geschäft haben sich verbessert”, so Finanzchef Hirokazu Umeda. Er kündigte an, dass bis Ende März in der Gigafactory weitere Fertigungslinien installiert werden. Die Gesamtkapazität des Standorts soll dadurch auf 35 Gigawattstunden pro Jahr steigen.

Panasonic ist aktuell der einzige Akku-Zulieferer von Tesla. Die Gigafactory des US-Herstellers im Bundesstaat Nevada wurde zu einem wesentlichen Teil von den Japanern mitfinanziert. Zuletzt hieß es, dass Panasonic Tesla bei Bedarf weitere Mittel zur Verfügung stellen könnte. Die Partner streben künftig aber auch Batterie-Kooperationen mit anderen Firmen an.
