Man könnte es für Chaos halten, Tesla-CEO Elon Musk aber verweist in solchen Fällen gern darauf, dass sein Unternehmen eben viel experimentiert und lieber kurzfristig falsch entscheidet als gar nicht. So oder so gibt es jetzt erneut eine Änderung bei der Preispolitik für die Funktion „Volles Potenzial für autonomes Fahren“ (auf Englisch Full Self-Driving oder kurz FSD): Wer sie erst nachträglich aktivieren lässt, muss dafür jetzt anders als bisher nicht mehr Geld ausgeben als Kunden, die sich schon bei der Bestellung dafür entschieden haben.
„Volles Potenzial für autonomes Fahren ist für den Kauf nach der Auslieferung verfügbar. Durch die Veröffentlichung neuer Funktionen werden die Preise wahrscheinlich steigen“, heißt es jetzt (noch auf Englisch) auf den deutschen Bestellseiten für alle Tesla-Elektroautos. In der Vergangenheit stand an dieser Stelle der Hinweis auf einen höheren Preis, wenn die Aktivierung erst nach der Auslieferung gekauft wird. Nunmehr liegt der Preis für die Option bei Model 3, Model S und Model X gleichermaßen bei 6300 Euro, ob sofort bestellt oder später.
Wie viele Änderungen Tesla bei der FSD-Option allein in diesem Jahr vorgenommen hat, lässt sich kaum noch nachvollziehen – zumal die Anpassungen von Tesla meist nicht angekündigt, sondern nur von Nutzern und Medien registriert und dann weitergemeldet werden. In diesem Frühjahr wurden die Preise für den Basis-Autopilot und das darauf aufbauende FSD vorübergehend drastisch gesenkt, bis Tesla die Richtung wechselte und sie über das vorherige Niveau erhöhte.
Außerdem kündigte Musk an, FSD werde in Zukunft immer weiter verteuert, weil der Funktionsumfang stetig erweitert werde. Noch in diesem Jahr werde es mit jedem aktuellen Elektroauto von Tesla möglich sein, autonom durch die gesamten USA zu fahren, stellte er später in Aussicht.
