Teslas are getting new ‘Monty Python’ Easter Eggs, courtesy of Elon Musk

Driving a Tesla is fun. There’s a reason why the Tesla’s earlier vehicles, which were released prior to the introduction of Autopilot, are fondly dubbed by longtime owners as “driver’s edition” cars today. Teslas are equally fun when they’re just parked, too. Thanks to a list of Easter Eggs and features such as Musk’s favorite, Fart Mode, and the Tesla Arcade, even wait times at places such as charging stations are enjoyable.

Just recently, Elon Musk responded positively to a suggestion for a new Easter Egg that could be released to the company’s fleet of electric cars. During a Twitter conversation, a member of the Tesla community inquired if the company could roll out some fun Monty Python-themed Easter Eggs. Musk, who was then providing some updates on Tesla’s V10 software and its upcoming features, answered in the affirmative.

Tesla’s Easter Eggs come in many forms. Hence, it’s pretty difficult to predict exactly what Elon Musk’s Monty Python Easter Eggs will be like. Members of the Tesla community who are fond of the franchise and the iconic Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie have suggested that in honor of the iconic film, perhaps cars could start throwing insults in a French accent. This is actually not a bad idea, and it’s not implausible, given Elon Musk’s fondness of the watchtower knight scene in the Monty Python movie.

It would not be the first time that Monty Python references will end up in an Elon Musk-owned company. While preparing for The Boring Company’s party for its test tunnel in Hawthorne last year, Elon Musk was adamant that the party include a knight on top of a tower of Boring Bricks throwing insults at people. Musk did get his way, though the insult-throwing knight was stationed on the ground, and the watchtower was populated by a dummy knight instead. As of late May 2019, the dummy knight is still stationed in its tower

It should be noted that Elon Musk might be fond of jokes, but he is dead serious when he states that Teslas are designed to be instruments of fun. More than quick, desirable, zero-emissions vehicles, each Tesla is a rolling computer filled to the brim with tech that could exhilarate and entertain at the same time. After all, how many cars out there currently have built-in dashcams, a dedicated Sentry Mode security system, Autopilot, an actual gaming arcade, and an on-demand whoopie cushion?
